Police arrest two after traffic stop at Happy Valley, South Australia

Two people have been arrested after a traffic incident at Happy Valley.

Police will allege that about 2.15pm today (Monday 14 September), traffic patrols attempted to stop a black motorcycle on Flaxmill Road, Christie Downs due to the bike bearing false number plates.

The rider and his pillion passenger took off from police, and the bike was not pursued.

About ten minutes later, police saw the bike when it had stopped at the intersection of Kenihans and Panalatinga Roads, about to head north on the Southern Expressway.

The rider again attempted to speed off, but crashed into a police car, and he and his passenger were arrested at the scene.

The rider, a 30-year-old man from Hackham West is expected to be charged with dangerous driving to escape police pursuit (following his attempt to speed off before crashing into police car), disobey direction to stop, illegal use of a motor vehicle, fail to display L plates and fail to ride a learner approved motorcycle. He was also drug tested and returned a positive result to methamphetamine.

His passenger, a 40-year-old woman from Christie Downs is expected to be charged with illegal use of a motor vehicle.
