Police arrest two men after break-in at Morphett Vale, South Australia

Two men have been arrested for numerous offences after members of the public alerted police to suspicious activity in the southern suburbs.

About 11.45pm on Tuesday 5 January, police were called to a business premises at Morphett Vale after reports of a break-in.

A witness reported to police he saw two people breaking into the premises on Main South Road at Morphett Vale where they stole property and left in a green Commodore sedan. The car was last seen heading east on Wheatsheaf Road.

Southern District patrols quickly attended the area and located the green sedan and followed it onto Doctors Road, Beach Road and onto the Southern Expressway where it travelled on the wrong side of the road.

Patrols stopped following the vehicle for safety reasons and set up cordons in the area.

Just after midnight a member of the public phoned police to advise a green Holden VK Executive sedan had been dumped on Commercial Road at Seaford and two people were seen running from the car where they jumped a fence into an aged care facility.

Police located the stolen vehicle at Seaford which was loaded up with sunglasses and other property.

Police searched the area and located the two suspects walking in a paddock near Tiffany Street.

Two men were arrested; a 28-year-old and a 29-year-old man both from Christie Downs. They were both charged with aggravated serious criminal trespass, theft, illegal use of a motor vehicle and driving dangerously to escape a police pursuit.

They were both refused police bail and will appear in the Christies Beach Magistrate Court later today.
