Police arrest two men after illicit drugs, weapons and wildlife found

Two men have been arrested after drugs, ammunition and an illegal snake and lizard were found at a house in Kalkallo.

Investigators from the Fawkner Divisional Response Unit attended a warrant on Handlen Street about 5am on Tuesday, 26 April.

They discovered an illegal python, as well as a lizard in the family home.

The reptiles were removed from the property by specialist teams.

Police also found cannabis, suspected methamphetamine, explosives, what is believed to be a firearm and money which is understood to be the proceeds of crime.

Two men, a 27-year-old who lives at the address and a 36-year-old Sunbury man, were arrested and assisted police with their enquiries.

A 27-year-old Kalallo man was charged with 18 offences including two counts of trafficking of a drug of dependence, firearms and weapons offences, and wildlife offences.

He will appear before the Melbourne Magistrates' Court on later today.

The 36-year-old Sunbury man was released without charge.
