Police arrest woman after two police officers injured

Two uniform police officers have been injured after being hit by a car in Seaford this afternoon.

Police were called to a fast food restaurant on Ballarto Road about 2.40pm to perform a welfare check on a female in a vehicle who appeared unwell.

Upon police arrival, the driver allegedly drove her vehicle into the police officers, pinning one against a wall and running over the ankle of a second.

The male and female officers, both in their 20s, have been conveyed to hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The silver Ford sedan was followed by the Air Wing for almost an hour, at times allegedly reaching speeds of 170km/h.

A tyre deflation device was successfully deployed, and the vehicle collided with a tree in Burwood about 3.35pm.

The 27-year-old female from Fairfield allegedly ran from the vehicle and hid in the rear yard of a residence on Gillard Street, where she was arrested.

She is currently assisting police with enquiries.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage of the vehicle is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
