Police charge man after assault of female jogger - Lidcombe

A man will appear in court today charged over the alleged assault of a female jogger in Sydney's west.

About 6.50pm on Thursday 29 December 2022, the woman was jogging along Railway Parade when a man grabbed her from behind and assaulted her.

Police were alerted and officers attached to Auburn Police Area Command were notified and commenced an investigation into the incident.

The woman did not suffer any serious injuries.

Following inquiries, including a public appeal for information, a 29-year-old man was arrested on Park Road Auburn at 11am today (Friday 17 February 2023).

He was taken to Auburn Police Station where an outstanding warrant was executed for assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and stalk/intimate intend fear physical harm.

He was also charged with assault officer in execution of duty, and breach of bail.

Police will allege in court that the man has resisted arrest and spat at officers during the arrest.

The Auburn man was refused bail and will appear at Parramatta Bail Court today (Saturday 18 February 2023).
