Police charge man after attempted vehicle stop, pursuit - Greenacre

A man has been charged following an attempted vehicle stop and subsequent pursuit in Greenacre today.

About 9.30am (Sunday 15 May 2022), officers from Raptor Squad were conducting high-visibility patrols targeting organised criminal networks when they attempted to stop a Ford Falcon on Napolean Avenue for the purpose of a Firearms Prohibition Order search.

The vehicle allegedly failed to stop, and a pursuit was initiated; however, the driver stopped on nearby Chaseling Street and the man ran from the car into neighbouring yards.

A search of the area was conducted by officers from Bankstown Police Area Command, assisted by PolAir and the Dog Unit, and the man was arrested a short time later in the backyard shed of a home on Lascelles Street.

The 46-year-old was taken to Bankstown Police Station where he was charged with exceed speed; not stop when directed to do so; enter inclosed land not prescribed premises without lawful excuse; and commons assault (DV).

The Yagoona man was given strict conditional bail to appear at Bankstown Local Court on 8 June 2022.

Strike Force Raptor was established in 2009, before becoming a standalone squad in 2021. Raptor Squad conducts proactive investigations and intelligence-based, high-impact policing operations to prevent and disrupt conflicts, and dismantle any network engaged in serious organised criminal activity.
