Police charge man after child approach at Doonside

A man will face court today after being charged with assaulting a child outside a school in Sydney's west earlier this month.

On Monday 8 March 2021, police commenced an investigation into a report that a 14-year-old girl had been approached by a man outside a school on Power Street, Doonside.

It will be alleged by police that about 7.45am, the man approached the girl and engaged in conversation with her, before grabbing her on the arm.

Officers from Blacktown Police Area Command were informed of the matter and commenced an investigation.

About 8.10pm that day, a 62-year-old man was arrested at a home in Doonside.

He was taken to Blacktown Police Station and charged with common assault and stalk/intimidate intend physical harm.

The man was granted strict conditional bail to appear at Blacktown Local Court today (Wednesday 31 March 2021).
