Police charge man after fatal collision in Diggers Rest

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man following a fatal collision in Diggers Rest yesterday afternoon.

Police responded to reports of a Kia Cerato seen driving erratically in the area before a three-vehicle collision on Bulla-Diggers Rest Road about 3.30pm.

The male driver and occupant of one of the vehicles struck, who is yet to be formally identified, died at the scene.

The female driver of another vehicle involved was treated for minor injuries.

A man and a woman from the Kia Cerato were arrested at the scene and taken to hospital under police guard with minor injuries.

A 23-year-old Wallan man has been charged with dangerous driving causing death, dangerous driving causing serious injury, reckless conduct endangering life, reckless conduct endangering serious injury and unlicensed driving.

He is expected to appear before Melbourne Magistrates' Court tonight.

A 26-year-old Sunbury woman remains in hospital.
