Police charge man after firearm discharged; man assaulted at Liverpool

A man will appear in court today charged with firearms and domestic-related offences, following an incident earlier this week.

On Wednesday (12 October 2022), officers from Liverpool City Police Area Command commenced an investigation into reports of a domestic-related incident earlier that day.

Police were told a man and woman – both aged 21 – attended Mayberry Crescent, Liverpool, about 10pm, to speak with a 22-year-old man, who was known to them.

It will be alleged that the two men were speaking, before the older man discharged two rounds of a firearm into the ground next to the other man, before allegedly hitting him in the face with the pistol.

The older man allegedly made verbal threats, before the man and woman left the scene.

Following inquiries, detectives, with assistance from the Tactical Operations Unit, executed a search warrant at a unit on Mayberry Crescent at 10am yesterday (Thursday 13 October 2022).

During the search, police seized a spent casing, $32,000 cash, and a homemade electronic stun device. The firearm is yet to be recovered.

The 22-year-old man was arrested and taken to Liverpool Police Station, where he was charged with fire firearm manner likely injure person/property (DV), possess loaded firearm public place, assault occasioning actual bodily harm (DV) and two counts of stalk/intimidate intend dear physical harm.

He was refused bail to appear before Liverpool Local Court today (Friday 14 October 2022).
