Police charge man after Hampton Park hit-run in January

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man following a fatal hit-run collision in Hampton Park in January.

A 58-year-old man was riding along Hallam Road when he was struck by a car about 4.15am on Thursday, 6 January.

It is alleged the car was stolen at the time of the collision and the driver failed to stop.

A 26-year-old man from Narre Warren has been charged with dangerous driving causing death, accident - fail to assist, accident - fail to stop, theft of motor vehicle, theft from motor vehicle, criminal damage by fire and other offences.

He will appear at Melbourne Magistrates' Court on 10 January 2023.
