Police charge man after incidents in Bassendean

Midland Detectives have charged a 41-year-old man as a result of their investigation into two incidents in Bassendean on Wednesday, 12 August 2020.

It will be alleged at about 3:30pm a man attended a liquor outlet on Railway Parade where he assaulted a 44-year-old man with a metal pole. The victim was conveyed to Royal Perth Hospital with serious head and leg injuries.

It is further alleged that around 5:25pm, a 42-year-old man was sitting near the corner of Guildford Road and Wilson Road when he was approached by the man. After a short conversation the man attempted to take the victim's bike and a verbal altercation occurred. The man then punched the victim to the nose before fleeing the area on the bike.

Yesterday (21 August 2020), a 41-year-old man was arrested in Midland. He has been charged with:

- Grievous Bodily Harm

- Robbery

- Possess a Prohibited Drug (Cannabis)

He will appear in the Perth Magistrates Court today, 22 August 2020.
