Police charge man after Moonah search

Detectives from Southern Drug Investigation Services have charged a 29 year old Goodwood man with drugs, firearms and property offences following a search of a storage facility at Moonah yesterday.

Detective Inspector Adam Mollineaux said trafficable quantities of ICE and ecstasy were seized, as well as cocaine and a significant amount of cash.

Two stolen pistols, both confirmed as stolen, and a shotgun also confirmed as stolen were recovered as well as a quantity of ammunition. Enquiries are continuing regarding a second shotgun located during the search which is believed to be stolen.

Stolen property totalling in excess of $50,000, was also recovered - items include jewellery, power tools, and mountain bikes.

"The amount of property recovered is sizeable, and it will take some time to identify each item and hopefully reunite it with the proper owners." Detective Inspector Mollineaux said.

The man will also face traffic offences, including driving whilst disqualified and evading police on the Midland Highway in September 2021. He has been remanded and will appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court on Friday morning.
