October Business Month wraps up for another year
Program helped Territory businesses adapt to new technology, changing markets and evolving workplaces
Local success stories shared alongside national keynote speakers
October Business Month (OBM) has ended on a fashionable note, with THE ICONIC Co-Founder Adam Jacobs closing this year's program in Darwin.
More than 200 people attended the sold-out final keynote, where Mr Jacobs spoke about his path from strategy consulting with BCG and PwC to founding THE ICONIC and Hatch, a business helping people find meaning in their work. He also spoke about how technology is changing the way we live and the role tech companies can play in shaping the future.
Now in its 32nd year, OBM is the Territory's premier business event. This year's theme, 'Embracing Change', focused on the pressures and opportunities businesses are facing from AI, shifting consumer behaviour and a changing workforce.
Across October, 79 event partners delivered 167 events throughout the Territory. The Women in Business Lunch in Darwin and the Stronger Together: Katherine Business Dinner both sold out, and 25 Business Support Series events were held across the regions to help businesses build resilience.
Ten Territory Success Stories featured at this year's keynote events, with local business owners from Darwin, Katherine and Alice Springs sharing how they have grown their businesses and adapted to change.
Minister for Trade, Business and Asian Relations Robyn Cahill OAM said this year's program was built around what businesses need right now.
"We tailored this year's program to give businesses practical tools, fresh insight and the chance to make connections that help them thrive," Minister Cahill said.
"Whether you're an entrepreneur, a business owner or an employee, there was something on the calendar to help you stay ahead in a changing business world.
"Business is the backbone of the Territory economy. Events like OBM help our businesses innovate, work together and grow, and that is how we rebuild the economy."
Minister Cahill thanked OBM sponsors and event partners for their support.
"OBM doesn't happen without our sponsors and event partners. Thank you for delivering another big month of business events for Territorians," Minister Cahill said.
