Council invites everyone to Queanbeyan Diwali Mela on Saturday 14 November 2026 from 5 pm to 10 pm in the Queanbeyan Showground.
'Council is so excited to see the Queanbeyan community embrace Queanbeyan Diwali Mela in 2026,'' said Mayor Kenrick Winchester.
'The festival continues to grow in size, and it builds positive connections within the community,' the Mayor said.
'This year's event will giving local small business opportunities, provide space for children and young people to celebrate in their culture, and showcase our brilliant city across NSW with the support of Multicultural NSW and SBS.'
Queanbeyan Diwali Mela celebrates and honours the rich traditions of the communities of India, Nepal and Sri Lanka, promotes multicultural understanding and appreciation, and reinforces the valuable contribution these groups make to our community.
'Diwali is a time to celebrate the triumph of light over darkness, hope over fear and knowledge over ignorance. This Diwali Mela is a wonderful opportunity to bring the community together in the spirit of joy, generosity and renewal,' said Zakia Patel, Executive Director Multicultural Hub Canberra & Queanbeyan.

Come along to create a beautiful lantern with the support of Southern Tableland Arts, take a ride in a teacup, move to the beats of Dhol as the lantern parade weaves through the crowd, marvel at the skilled dancers, be enchanted by music, or see the Queanbeyan sky come to life with a specular display of fireworks.
There will be more than a dozen different food and drink stalls with food from around the world, and shopping opportunities for books, toys, clothes, jewellery and homeware available.
