Police charge man after serious Newman crash

Officers from the Major Crash Investigation Section have charged a man following their investigation into a serious crash that occurred in Newman on Saturday 27 March 2021.

It will be alleged around 9.25pm a Blue Mazda 3 was driving north on the Great Northern Highway, approximately 92 kilometres north of Newman when it left the roadway and collided with a storm water drain.

As a result of the crash two passengers, 4-year-old girl and 6-year-old girl, received serious injuries and they were flown to the Perth Children's hospital for treatment.

The driver, a 25-year-old man, has been charged with Dangerous driving occasioning Grievous bodily harm and Dangerous driving occasioning bodily harm.

He is due to appear in the Newman Magistrates Court on Tuesday 11 May 2021.
