Police charge man after two-vehicle crash - Padstow Heights

A man's been charged following a two-vehicle crash in Sydney's south-west today.

About 3pm (Monday 7 November 2022), officers from Traffic and Highway Patrol Command were patrolling Alfords Point Road, Sutherland, when they detected a Honda Accord sedan allegedly speeding.

When the vehicle failed to stop, a pursuit was initiated.

A short time later, the Honda crashed into a concrete barrier, traffic light, and another vehicle – a Volkswagen Tiguan SUV – on the off-ramp at Davies Road, near Clancy Street, at Padstow Heights.

The driver of the Honda, a 22-year-old man, was arrested at the scene and taken to Sutherland Police Station.

His passenger, a man believed to be aged in his 20s, suffered minor injuries and was taken to Bankstown Hospital.

The driver of the Volkswagen, a man believed to be aged in his 30s, was taken to Liverpool Hospital with minor injuries.

The 22-year-old man has since been charged with Class A motor vehicle exceed speed more than 30 km/h – estimated, police pursuit - not stop - drive recklessly - 1st offence, learner not accompanied by driver/police officer/tester, learner driver not display "L" plates as prescribed, drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous-1st offence, use light vehicle not comply with tyres standard, and negligent driving (no death or grievous bodily harm).

The Sefton man was granted conditional bail to appear at Sutherland Local Court on Thursday 19 January 2022.

The man's learner licence has been suspended.
