Police charge man and woman after car hits police vehicle during pursuit at Narrabri

A man and woman have been charged after allegedly crashing into a police vehicle during a pursuit in the state's North West Slopes.

Shortly after 11pm on Wednesday (2 October 2019), officers attached to Oxley Police District attempted to stop a vehicle near the intersection of Tibbereena and Violet streets at Narrabri.

The Toyota Corolla failed to stop and a pursuit commenced through the Narrabri township.

Police allege the car lost control in a dry riverbed at the end of Kate Street, during which it crashed into the police vehicle causing minimal damage.

The 25-year-old female driver and 22-year-old male passenger were arrested and taken to Narrabri Police Station.

During a search of the vehicle police allegedly seized various items including a knife, tomahawk, balaclava and motorbike gloves.

An amount of cannabis was located on the man who was issued a Field Court Attendance Notice for possess prohibited drug. He will appear before Narrabri Local Court on Tuesday 29 October 2019.

The woman was charged with pursuit, drive while licence suspended and drive unregistered motor vehicle.

She was granted conditional bail to appear before Narrabri Local Court on Tuesday 26 November 2019.

Investigations continue.
