Police charge man over armed robbery at Marrickville and assaulting police

A man will face court today charged over an armed robbery at a service station at Marrickville earlier this week and assaulting police.

About 10.40pm on Wednesday 17 November 2021, police were called to a service station on Enmore Road, Marrickville, following reports of an armed robbery.

Police were told a man – possibly armed with a firearm – entered the store before threatening an employee and demanding cash.

The man stole cash before leaving the store.

He was last seen heading south along Enmore Road.

The employee was not physically injured during the incident.

Officers attached to Inner West Police Area Command attended and established a crime scene.

Following investigations, officers attached to Kings Cross Police Area Command attended a unit on Stephen Street, Woolloomooloo, where they arrested a 48-year-old man.

When police searched the man, officers located and seized 2.28 grams of methamphetamine.

He was taken to Kings Cross Police Station, where he allegedly assaulted a female detective.

The man was charged with assault officer in execution of duty, robbery armed with offensive weapon and possess prohibited drug.

He was refused bail to appear before Central Local Court today (Friday 19 November 2021).

The female detective was uninjured.
