Police charge man over child procurement

A man has been charged after allegedly attempting to procure a child in Sydney's north west earlier this month.

On Thursday 1 October 2020, a man approached a 14-year-old boy in Eastwood and allegedly showed him messages of sexually explicit acts he wished to engage in with the child.

Police were alerted and officers from Ryde Police Area Command commenced an investigation.

Following inquiries, detectives executed a search warrant at a home in Telopea about 10am today (Thursday 8 October 2020). Officers seized a number of items, including a mobile phone.

A 52-year-old man was arrested at the home and taken to Ryde Police Station where he was charged with procure child for unlawful sexual activity.

He was bail refused to appear at Burwood Local Court tomorrow (Friday 9 October 2020).
