Police charge man over fraud totalling $685,000 in Sydney CBD

A man will appear in court today charged over alleged fraud offences totalling nearly $700,000 in Sydney's CBD.

In June 2018, officers attached to Sydney City Police Area Command commenced an investigation after receiving a report from a law firm that funds had been misappropriated over a six year period.

Following extensive inquiries and information received, a 61-year-old man was arrested at a hotel on Quay St, Haymarket, about 8am today (Wednesday 21 April 2021)

He was taken to Day Street Police Station where he was charged with two counts of dishonestly obtain financial advantage by deception.

Police will allege a total of $685,000 was misappropriated by the man, who was a senior employee at the company, between January 2012 to June 2018.

He was refused bail to appear at Central Local Court today.
