Police Charge Man Over Nazi Gesture

A 36-year-old Hillarys man has been charged by detectives from the State Security Investigation Group following an investigation into alleged offensive and racially motivated behaviour at a licensed premises in Perth on Sunday, 31 August 2025.

It will be alleged that the accused was at a venue on Adelaide Terrace in the company of several members of the far-right National Socialist Network (NSN) in Western Australia, when he was overheard by other patrons making racist remarks and racial slurs.

It will be further alleged; between 6:00pm and 6:30pm, the accused performed four separate Nazi salute gestures in full view of the public that were recorded by patrons. Despite being aware he was being filmed, the accused allegedly responded by making an obscene gesture and then repeated the Nazi salute. As he exited the premises, he allegedly made another Nazi salute before walking away.

On 14 October 2025, the 36-year-old man was arrested in Jurien Bay and has been charged with 'Making a Nazi Gesture Visible in a Public Place'.

He is due to appear before the Perth Magistrates Court on Wednesday, 29 October 2025.

This type of behaviour is abhorrent, deeply offensive, and will not be tolerated in our community. The State Security Investigation Group is committed to identifying and prosecuting individuals who engage in racially motivated or extremist conduct.

Police will continue to take firm action against any individual or group who seeks to incite hatred or division through public displays of extremist ideology.
