Police Charge Man Over Pursuit - Greenacre

A man will face court charged after an alleged pursuit in Sydney's southwest overnight.

About 9.30pm (Wednesday 20 May 2026), police sighted a vehicle on the Hume Highway, Liverpool, allegedly exceeding the speed limit.

Police followed the vehicle to Hoxton Park Road where officers attempted to stop it; however, when the driver allegedly failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated.

The vehicle travelled back towards the Hume Highway, Warwick Farm, before continuing through local streets in Cabramatta, Canley Vale, Bass Hill, and Chester Hill.

With the assistance of PolAir, the vehicle was sighted in Regents Park before heading towards Greenacre, where it came to a stop on Roberts Road.

Officers attached to the State Crime Command's Raptor Squad approached the vehicle, which police will allege reversed into a male officer. The 32-year-old senior constable was not injured.

Police allege the driver refused to get out of the car and officers were forced to smash the windscreen and utilised a Taser to arrest the driver – a 36-year-old man.

A search of the vehicle allegedly located a garage/car door opening device, more than $1200 cash, and four mobile phones.

The man was taken to Auburn Police Station and charged with,

  • Two counts police pursuit – not stop – drive at speed
  • Class A motor vehicle exceed speed more than 45km/h
  • Assault police officer in execution of duty without actual bodily harm
  • Recklessly deal with proceeds of crime less than $5,000

He was refused bail and will appear before Burwood Local Court today (Thursday 21 May 2026)
