Police charge man over sexual assault of teen at Richmond

A man will appear in court today charged following an investigation into the alleged sexual abuse of a teenage girl in Sydney's north west.

In January, detectives from the Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad commenced an investigation after receiving reports a 14-year-old girl had been sexually assaulted by a man known to her.

Following extensive inquiries, investigators arrested a 54-year-old man at a home at Richmond about 11.45am last Friday (29 May 2019).

He was taken to Windsor Police Station and charged with aggravated sexual intercourse with a child.

Police will allege in court that the man sexually assaulted the girl between Monday 13 and Tuesday 14 January 2020, while staying at the family home.

The man was refused bail and appeared at Parramatta Local Court on Saturday (30 May 2020), where he was formally refused bail to appear at the same court today (Thursday 4 June 2020).

The Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad is comprised of detectives who are specially trained to investigate matters against children and adults, including sexual assault, serious physical abuse, and extreme cases of neglect.
