Police charge man with drug and traffic related offences

Police have charged a Dowsings Point man with several drug and traffic related offences after he was arrested in Huonville yesterday.

Around 4.45pm yesterday, Huonville Police arrested a 31-year-old man in relation to two separate evade incidents earlier in the day where he was riding a 2010 BMW S1000RR motorcycle in the Huonville area.

During the arrest police located a substantial amount of illicit drugs in a backpack the man was carrying.

Police subsequently conducted a search of the man's residence and located illicit drugs – Methylamphetamine (ICE), Cocaine, MDMA, Cannabis and prescription drugs - with an estimated street value of $150,700.

The man was charged with several drug and traffic related offences including Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, Possess a Controlled Drug, Dealing with the Proceeds of Crime, Escape, Evade Police (Aggravated Circumstances) and Breach of Supreme Court Bail.

He was detained to appear before the Hobart Magistrates Court today.
