Police charge two after burglary in Stawell

Two people have been charged after an alleged burglary in Stawell overnight.

Officers intercepted a Toyota Camry sedan travelling on Ararat Road just after 3am.

It's alleged that an occupant of the vehicle called triple-zero (000) and reported a false "assault" nearby.

Police searched the vehicle and located a quantity of cash along with other alleged stolen items.

It is believed these items were stolen from an alleged burglary on Robson Road.

A 33-year-old Ararat woman has been charged with burglary, two counts of theft, deal with property suspected of crime, make false report, going equipped to steal and possess a controlled weapon.

She has been remanded in custody and will appear at court at a later date.

A 34-year-old Golden Point man has been charged with burglary, two counts of theft, deal with property suspected of crime, going equipped to steal, drive whilst disqualified and use unregistered motor vehicle.

He has been remanded in custody and will appear at court at a later date.
