Police charge two teens after assault - Glendale

About 6pm yesterday (Wednesday 10 January 2024), police were called to a shopping centre on Lake Road, Glendale, following reports of a shoplifting and assault.

At the scene, police were told that two teenagers - a boy and girl - had entered a shop before allegedly stealing some items.

A security guard, aged 31, approached the pair and retrieved the items; however, was allegedly assaulted by the boy as a result.

A short time later, a member of the public, aged 38, came to the assistance of the security guard; however, was allegedly assaulted by a teenage girl.

Police will allege a 15-year-old girl hit the man in the head with a water bottle and bit him twice on the arm.

A second security guard came to assist and was also allegedly assaulted by the girl suffering a suspected fractured cheekbone.

Police arrived and arrested a 16-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl. They were taken to Toronto Police Station.

There the boy was charged with breach of bail, shoplifting, and assault person with intent to resist/prevent apprehension.

The girl was charged with breach of bail, and two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm in the company of others.

Both were refused bail to appear before a children's court today (Thursday 11 January 2024).
