Police charge woman over loaded gun at Gold Coast

A 22-year-old woman has been charged after the alleged discovery of a loaded firearm in a car at Miami last night.

Around 6.50pm police were performing proactive patrols when they observed the vehicle parked in the rear carpark of a tavern at Miami with two women acting suspiciously inside.

Police searched the vehicle and allegedly located a loaded handgun and ammunition in a handbag, more ammunition in the glove box and a collection of drugs including methamphetamine, cocaine and restricted prescription drugs.

Nearby in the same carpark police located a second vehicle with two men inside. A subsequent search of that vehicle allegedly located a knife and the drug GHB.

A 22-year-old woman from Biggera Waters has been charged with driving of motor vehicle without a driver licence demerit points (Qld Lic) type 2 vehicle related offence, unlawful possession of weapons Category D/H/R weapon, authority required to possess explosives, possessing dangerous drugs Schedule 2 drug quantity of or exceeding Schedule 3, possession of property suspected of being the proceeds of an offence under Drugs Misuse Act and possess property suspected of having been acquired for the purpose of committing a drug offence. She is due to face Southport Magistrates Court today.

A 29-year-old woman from Surfers Paradise has been charged with four counts of a dangerous drug. It is alleged these charges relate to cocaine, methamphetamine, alprazolam and diazepam. She received a notice to appear at Southport Magistrates Court on July 14

Police investigations are continuing into the men.
