Homicide Squad detectives are investigating a fatal stabbing in Melbourne last night.
Police responded to reports of a group of people fighting on King Street just after 9.30pm.
On police arrival a 46-year-old male was located with serious injuries and was transported to hospital where he has since died.
Detectives are investigating whether the incident is connected to the discovery of an injured man at the base of a fire escape at a hotel in Melbourne this morning.
Emergency services were again called to the King Street premises following reports the man had fallen just before 3am.
That man has been taken to hospital and is currently under police guard.
A 43-year-old woman and 23-year-old man are assisting police with their enquiries.
It is believed all parties are known to each other.
