Police investigate suspicious car fire in Thomastown

Detectives from Whittlesea Crime Investigation Unit are investigating a suspicious car fire that occurred in Thomastown earlier this week.

Investigators have been told two offenders walked up the driveway of a property on Philip Court about 12.25am on Monday 6 September.

It is believed they smashed the rear window of a black Mazda sedan that was parked in the driveway before setting light to the inside of the car.

The fire was extinguished but not before it caused significant damage to the interior of the vehicle.

CCTV has been released of the incident and police are hoping someone will recognise the man depicted in the footage.

He was wearing a grey hoodie, Adidas track pants and Nike shoes and was carrying a can and what appeared to be a hammer at the time.
