Police investigating after man assaulted during break and enter – Panania

Police are appealing for public assistance after a man was assaulted during an aggravated break and enter in Sydney’s south west this morning.

About 3.50am (Monday 8 August 2022), police were called to a business on Tower Street, Panania, following reports of an aggravated break and enter and assault.

Officers attached to Bankstown Police Area Command attended a short time later and were told the owner of the business – a 44-year-old man ­– had discovered two males inside the premises.

When he confronted the males, the man was assaulted with a crow bar, before the pair fled the scene on foot with an amount of cash.

They were last seen heading in an easterly direction on Tower Street before turning right onto Lambeth Street.

Police conducted extensive patrols of the area; however, the males were not located.

The 44-year-old was not injured during the incident.

A crime scene was established and an investigation commenced into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

As inquiries continue, police have released descriptions of two males they believe may be able to assist with their investigations.

The first male is described as being about 170cm tall. He was wearing a dark jumper, light grey track pants, face covering with teeth, a black hat and a back pack.

The second male is described as being about 170cm tall with black hair. He was wearing a red and black jumper, brown pants, a face covering, black hat and back pack. He was carrying a crowbar.
