Detectives from Southport Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) are investigating following an incident on Eugaree and Ward streets in Southport overnight, July 17.
Officers were called just after 9pm to reports a man had been stabbed.
Upon arrival, a 42-year-old New South Wales man was located outside a property with serious injuries.
He was transported to Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition.
Anyone with information or relevant vision is urged to contact police.
Investigations are continuing.
