Police lay charges after man shot in leg - St Marys

A man will appear in court today charged after allegedly shooting another man in Sydney's west earlier this month.

About 8.30pm on Thursday 3 June 2021, emergency services were called to a unit in Saddington Street, St Marys, following reports a man had been shot.

Officers from Nepean Police Area Command attended and found a 34-year-old with a gunshot wound to the lower leg.

He was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition where he underwent surgery.

Following inquiries, detectives arrested a 43-year-old man at Bidwill about 11.30am yesterday (Friday 25 June 2021).

He was taken to Penrith Police Station and charged with discharge firearm intend cause grievous bodily harm, possess shortened firearm (not pistol) without authority, and possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority.

The Bidwill man was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Bail Court today (Saturday 26 June 2021).
