Columbia University Fertility Center has expanded into northern New Jersey with the opening of a new clinic in Teaneck.
"A significant number of our patients live in New Jersey," says Zev Williams, director of the Columbia University Fertility Center. "These patients were spending several hours a week commuting to our Manhattan clinic during treatment cycles to receive their care. With the new clinic, our patients can receive the same highly personalized, compassionate care offered at all our center's clinic locations while eliminating the stress of having to commute."
The new clinic, which opened in February 2026, offers a full suite of fertility services, including fertility evaluation and diagnosis, semen analysis, intrauterine insemination, oncofertility services, preimplantation genetic testing, daily monitoring for IUI and IVF cycles, and referrals to obstetric and gynecologic care at Columbia University Irving Medical Center.
The medical team in Teaneck is staffed by reproductive endocrinologists Eric Forman, Rachel McConnell, and Jenna Turocy. These physicians work with individuals and couples facing a wide range of fertility challenges-from common fertility concerns to the complex needs of LGBTQ+ families, cancer patients, and those with a family history of genetic disease.
"The new clinic here in New Jersey has already been transformative, making life so much better for our patients here who can now start their morning monitoring on this side of the bridge," says Lisa Nathan, interim chief of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons.
"Family planning does not happen in a straight line," says Mahako Etta, chief of innovation at New Jersey Maternal & Infant Health Innovation Authority, who attended the event. "Sometimes it requires different pathways, and it really requires the compassion of a team that's going to help families walk through this opportunity."

Innovating to improve patient care
For over 40 years, Columbia University Fertility Center has been at the forefront of patient care and innovation to help patients achieve their fertility goals. Technologies invented at the center and available nowhere else include HELIOS, a novel near-infrared light technology being tested as a way to enhance embryo development, and STAR, an AI-assisted method for finding and retrieving sperm in men with azoospermia (absence of visible sperm). The center also developed a technique to accurately measure hormone levels with a touch-activated, painless blood-collection device that patients can use at home.
"Columbia University Fertility Center is inspired by our patients and their incredible resilience," Williams says. "We are dedicated to offering them a place of hope that is grounded in extraordinary medical care and fueled by research and innovation to give them the best chance of success in their fertility journey. The opening of our newest clinic is a happy moment, when we can think about all the children, grandchildren, and generations that will come from our work."
