Police lay charges after woman killed in two-car crash at Mendooran

A woman has been charged following the death of a female passenger in a two-car crash in the state's Orana region yesterday.

About 2.40pm (Tuesday 26 November 2019), officers attached to Orana Mid Western Police District were called to a crash approximately 15 kilometres south east of Mendooran on the Castlereagh Highway.

On arrival, officers found a Honda CRV, being driven by a 43-year-old woman, and a Mazda 3 Hatchback, being driven by a 27-year-old woman with a 24-year-old female passenger, had crashed head-on.

The passenger was taken to Dubbo Hospital for treatment, however died.

The driver of the Mazda 3 was taken to Dubbo Hospital for facial injuries and back and neck pain.

About 1pm today (Wednesday 27 November 2019), the driver of the Honda attended Dubbo Police Station where she was charged with dangerous driving occasioning death, negligent driving occasioning death, and drive with misconduct.

She was granted conditional bail and will appear in Dubbo Local Court on Wednesday 29 January 2020.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
