Police lay charges - Domestic violence - Malak 28 September

Northern Territory Police have charged a 32-year-old man in relation to domestic violence offences after he allegedly assaulted his partner.

It is alleged that on Saturday night, the man assaulted the woman at a residence in Malak causing her to lose consciousness.

The incident was reported to police however, upon arrival the offender fled the scene.

Paramedics treated the woman at the scene before taking her to Royal Darwin Hospital.

Yesterday afternoon members from the Domestic and Family Violence section located the man in Palmerston, where he was arrested.

He has since been charged with:

  • Aggravated assault x 2
  • Breach domestic violence order x 2
  • Criminal damage
  • Unlawful entry
  • Breach suspended sentence

The man has been remanded to appear before Darwin Local Court today.

Officer in Charge of the Domestic and Family Violence section Michael Budge said "What this woman has endured is not acceptable and I thank the members of the public who reported the matter to police.

"If you see it or suspect it, report it, it's the law and you could be saving someone's life."
