Police lay charges over property offences - Greater Darwin 24 November

Northern Territory Police have arrested four youths in relation to property offences around Darwin earlier this week.

At around 2:30am on Monday, the youths allegedly drove a stolen motor vehicle to a business on the Stuart Highway in Coolalinga. The youths then allegedly unlawfully entered the business and stole a quantity of alcohol.

The stolen vehicle was dumped some time later in bushland near Roystonea Avenue.

At around 7:15pm the same day, the youths attended a shopping centre in Bakewell where they allegedly stole a number of items from a business.

The youths were arrested yesterday by detectives from Strike Force Trident.

A 15-year-old male was charged with:

  • 1 x Aggravated unlawful use of motor vehicle
  • 1 x Drive a motor vehicle while unlicensed
  • 1 x Unlawful entry - building
  • 1 x Damage to property
  • 2 x Stealing
  • 1 x Unlawfully possess property
  • 1 x Serious breach of bail

He was remanded to appear court today.

A 17-year-old male was charged with:

  • 1 x Stealing
  • 1 x Unlawfully possess property
  • 1 x Possess schedule 2 drug - less than trafficable quantity
  • 1 x Serious breach of bail

He was remanded appear in court today.

Two 15-year-old males will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act 2005.
