Police lay charges over unlawful entry - Groote Eylandt

Northern Territory Police have charged 3 males after they unlawfully entered a commercial property in Alyangula on Tuesday and stole a large quantity of alcohol and cigarettes.

A 20-year-old man was arrested in a nearby community on Tuesday and charged with stealing, aggravated unlawful entry and serious breach of bail. He will appear in Darwin Local Court today.

Two males, aged 17 and 19, were arrested yesterday and charged with stealing, aggravated unlawful entry and serious breach of bail. They were both remanded to appear in Darwin Local Court tomorrow.

Investigations remain ongoing.

Remote Sergeant David Hamlyn said, "Local police are working tirelessly to recover the stolen alcohol and urging anyone with information to contact 131 444.

"Alcohol fuelled violence and harm has a huge effect on our most vulnerable communities, and NT Police will continue to work closely with community members to ensure the safety of everyone."
