Serious Crime Squad detectives have arrested and charged a 19-year-old male in relation to an aggravated assault which occurred over the weekend.
The incident occurred at a licensed premises on Mitchell Street around 2:45am on Saturday, 14 December 2019. The 19-year-old bumped into the 30-year-old male victim which resulted in the victim speaking to the offender. Police allege the offender then struck the victim to the face without any physical provocation, rendering him unconscious.
The victim was conveyed to Royal Darwin Hospital with serious injuries.
Serious Crime Squad detectives arrested the 19-year-old male at a Karama residence today. He has been charged with unlawfully cause serious harm and will appear in Darwin Local Court on 15 January 2020.
