Police make arrest - Aggravated robbery in Alice Springs 15 February

Northern Territory Police have arrested a youth in relation to an assault and robbery that occurred yesterday in Alice Springs.

At around 7.30pm, police received reports that a male youth had allegedly assaulted and robbed a female victim while she was running along a popular track near Nelson and Blaine streets in Araluen.

The youth later allegedly ran towards another female, causing her concern, before fleeing the area.

Police were notified and arrested a 15-year-old a short time later.

The youth remains in custody and will appear in the Alice Springs Youth Court later today.

Detective Superintendent Kirsten Engels said, "This behaviour is reprehensible and has absolutely no place within our community. Our community has an expectation that they can go about their business without being subjected to such offending.

"I would like to thank the members of the public who informed police, allowing us to respond quickly and apprehend the alleged offender who remains in custody."
