Police make arrests - Traffic and drug offences

Northern Territory Police have seized a quantity of alcohol and cannabis destined for a remote community.

At about 5:00pm yesterday, police apprehended a vehicle with four heavily intoxicated occupants.

Police conducted a roadside breath test on the 44-year-old male driver which returned a positive result for alcohol. Police searched the driver and located a small package of cannabis. He was placed under arrest.

A search of the vehicle located nine bottles of alcohol, all of which were destroyed. Police also located approximately 172.1 grams of cannabis, for which a 50-year-old man was arrested.

The 44-year-old driver was conveyed to the local police station where he participated in a breath analysis test which returned a result of 0.254. Police checks also revealed he was disqualified from driving.

The man was issued a notice to appear in court for:

  • drive high range blood alcohol content
  • possess dangerous drug in public place
  • drive a motor vehicle while disqualified.

The 50-year-old man was charged with:

  • possess schedule 2 dangerous drug - traffickable quantity
  • supply dangerous drug in community.

All four vehicle occupants were issued with liquor infringement notices.
