Police responding to fatal motorcycle crash at Carwoola

A man has died following a motorcycle crash near Queanbeyan yesterday.

Police have been told about 1.30pm (Friday 16 August 2019), a man was riding along the Kings Highway, near Captains Flat Road, Carwoola, when the bike left the roadway and crashed into a street sign.

The man was treated at the scene before being taken to Canberra Hospital in a critical condition, where he later died from his injuries.

He is believed to be a 71-year-old.

Officers from Monaro Police District attended and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
