Police responding to fatal traffic crash at Banana

A man has died in a single vehicle crash near Banana in Central Queensland this morning, Saturday December 24.

Initial information indicates around 8.45am a silver Nissan Navara dual cab utility was travelling north on the Leichardt Highway around 30klm north of Banana when the vehicle left the highway and struck a tree.

A passing motorist stopped to render first aid ahead of the emergency response, however the driver of the utility, a 19-year-old Blackwater man died of his injuries at the scene.

The Forensic Crash Unit will is investigating and are calling for witnesses, especially those with dash cam vision of the utility in its travels to come forward.
