Police search for missing wind surfer at Scarborough

Water police have launched a search operation for a wind surfer believed to be missing in waters off Scarborough, at Redcliffe.

At approximately 11.45am today (Tuesday March 29) witnesses reported a wind surfer with a dark coloured sail going down in waters approximately 1km offshore, south of Scarborough Point.

There have been no sightings of the wind surfer since.

Several water police vessels, Coast Guard, Volunteer Marine Rescue and the Queensland Government Air helicopter are currently searching the area.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have information, or know the whereabouts of the wind surfer, to contact them immediately.
