Police search for Xiaozheng Lin after death of woman in Melbourne CBD

Homicide Squad detectives are appealing for public assistance to locate Xiaozheng Lin following the suspicious death of a woman in Melbourne's CBD on Tuesday night.

Emergency services were called to a Latrobe Street apartment about 8.40pm on 27 December after the 31-year-old Chinese national was located by friends.

Paramedics attended however the woman had already passed away.

A post-mortem was subsequently conducted and her death is being treated as suspicious.

Detectives are looking to speak to Lin as part of their investigation into the death of the woman and are actively searching for him.

The 22-year-old Huntingdale man is known to frequent the Oakleigh and Box Hill areas.

Lin is described as approximately 170cm tall with an average build, black hair and brown eyes. It's believed he may have recently shaved or cut his hair.

Police have released an image of Lin in the hope someone is able to identify him or provide information on his current whereabouts.

Investigators are also appealing for Lin to come forward and make himself known to police by contacting his nearest police station.

Anyone who sights Lin is urged not to approach him and to call triple zero (000) immediately.

The exact circumstances surrounding the woman's death are still being established and the investigation remains ongoing.

It's also believed Lin was known to the victim.
