Police seek information on Death in Darwin City 21 December

Northern Territory Police are investigating a death in Darwin City overnight.

At 8:20pm, police received reports that a group was involved in an altercation on Mitchell Street near the intersection of Nuttall Place.

Two woman received lacerations and were conveyed to Royal Darwin Hospital, the 28-year-old in a serious condition and a 33-year-old in a stable condition.

The 28-year-old woman later died as a result of her injuries.

The Major Crime Squad are investigating.

Detective Senior Sergeant Paul Morrissey said "Investigations are in their early stages as detectives work to understand the circumstances of the assault. A 31-year-old woman is in custody and is assisting police with enquiries.

"Police are urging anyone who witnessed the incident to make contact on 131 444. Please quote reference number 10208537."
