Police update 1: Sudden death investigation, Capalaba

Detectives from Cleveland and Redland Bay Criminal Investigation branches continue to investigate the death of a 59-year-old woman at Capalaba on Saturday, October 15.

The cause of the woman's death is still to be determined and police investigations are on-going.

Police had attended the woman's Swan Street address around 7.30pm on October 15 for a welfare check – a crime scene was declared at the scene and investigations by detectives, scenes of crime and scientific officers commenced. A media release was issued on October 16.

During the course of the sudden death investigation detectives charged a 42-year-old Alexandra Hills man on October 16 with one count of contravene a domestic violence order (aggravated offence) with police alleging the man is the respondent in a domestic violence order which was breached when he allegedly had contact with the aggrieved named in the order, a 59-year-old woman, sometime on the morning of October 15.

He was also charged with two counts of serious assault police in relation to his arrested on the morning of October 16 at a Capalaba address.

He appeared before the Cleveland Magistrates Court yesterday (October 17) and has been remanded in custody to re-appear in the same court on November 22.
