Police update: Charges - Property offences in Darwin 31 May

Northern Territory Police have charged three youths in relation to property offences around Darwin this month.

At around 6pm on 22 May, a 10-year-old male allegedly damaged a bus in Darwin City before entering a business on Mitchell Street and stealing a number of small items.

The next day at around 6:30pm, the same male allegedly returned to the business in the company of a 12-year-old female and other youths and again stole small items and damaged property.

The female youth was allegedly also involved in a service station robbery earlier this week with three other females.

Three youths were arrested yesterday and detectives from Strike Force Trident charged the 10-year-old with:

  • 2 x Damage property
  • 1 x Engage violent behaviour
  • 1 x Aggravated unlawful entry
  • 1 x Stealing
  • 1 x Aggravated robbery

He was bailed to appear in court on 20 June 2022.

A 12-year-old female was charged with:

  • 1 x Damage property
  • 1 x Aggravated unlawful entry
  • 2 x Stealing
  • 1 x Aggravated robbery

She was bailed to appear in court on 27 June 2022.

Another 12-year-old female was charged with one count of aggravated robbery and bailed to appear in court on 20 June 2022.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Bland said, "Investigations are ongoing to identify a number of other co-offenders in these incidents. We urge anyone who witnessed any of these acts to make contact on 131 444.

"This behaviour has been incredibly distressing for employees who deserve to be able to work without threats and theft. Strike Force Trident will continue to hold property offenders to account for their actions."
