Police Update: Fatal Traffic Crash Charges, Heatley

Police have charged a 31-year-old Kirwan man with multiple offences following an investigation into a fatal traffic crash in Heatley.

Police responded to reports of a traffic crash on Dalrymple Service Road, Heatley around 4.40pm on April 23.

It will be alleged that a silver Holden Commodore, driven by the Kirwan man and a Husqvarna motorcycle were travelling in opposite directions along Dalrymple Service Road before the two vehicles crashed.

The rider of the motorcycle, a 19-year-old Vincent man sustained critical injuries and was declared deceased at the scene.

The Kirwan man allegedly abandoned the Holden Commodore, which was located at a Marcel Street, Kirwan address.

Following an extensive investigation, police identified the Kirwan man as the alleged driver.

The 31-year-old Kirwan man was arrested in Innisfail on Sunday, April 28 and was charged with one count each of dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death and driving unlicensed.

He is scheduled to appear in the Innisfail Magistrates Court on April 29.
