Police update: Police shooting, Coomera

A 29-year-old Coomera man has been issued a notice to appear following an incident in Coomera on August 21.

Police attended a Bellagio Crescent residence around 3.20pm to conduct a welfare check.

Upon arrival, officers were allegedly confronted by a man armed with a knife.

Negotiators were notified to attend the scene and speak with the man.

The 29-year-old man allegedly advanced at officers and was subsequently shot just after 4pm.

He was transported to Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious condition. He remains in hospital in a stable condition.

The 29-year-old Coomera man has been issued a notice to appear on one count each of serious assault police officer, going armed so as to cause fear, possession of a knife in a public place and possess utensils or pipes.

He is expected to appear in Southport Magistrates Court on October 5.

The Ethical Standards Command investigation remains ongoing.
