Police update: Suspicious death investigation, Collingwood Park

A man has been charged with murder following investigations into the alleged suspicious death of two people on January 23.

Police will allege just before 1am, emergency services were called to a Hannant Street residence after initial reports of a disturbance, where they found the lower level of a two-storey house alight.

Firefighters extinguished the fire, and the bodies a 68-year-old woman and her 73-year-old husband, were located inside the home.

Police will allege they died from significant injuries.

Detectives investigating the incident have today charged a 28-year-old Goodna man with two counts of murder, one count of arson and one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

He will appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court tomorrow.

Detective Inspector Heath McQueen said he was today making an appeal to anyone who may have information in relation to this homicide investigation to please come forward.

"I am specifically appealing to anyone who may have dashcam footage and who were in the vicinity of Kruger Shopping Village Redbank Plains, Kruger Parade, Burrell Street and Hannant Street at Collingwood Park between 8am and 11am on Saturday, January 22.

"We are also specifically interested in the movements of a black Mercedes Benz and Green utility between those times, Detective Inspector Heath said.

"Both local Detectives, Homicide Detective, Forensic and Intelligence Officers have worked tirelessly on this investigation and this result is a testament to the dedication of all involved."

Investigations are ongoing.
